Kate by MySimeon™ is a project about creating pictures around emotional strain. A fashion shoot, which I wanted to be a fake nightmare. I wanted to see how pictures look like, when working on certain emotional limites, I usually never touch.
The Model :
She is Russian, grew up in Europe, just got married in Las Vegas, and loves shopping in Paris, Barcelona, London... Perfectly fluent in Russian, English and French, she is a fashionistas with a very broad cultural background. In my opinion, she will quickly stop modelling, as she will turn very soon in a successfull business woman.
The rules we agreed to work with :
I barely know the model and the location and work without any assistant and no make-up artist or hairdresser. The only make-up she would wear is gloss for the lips (Acqua Fusion Lancôme) I would discover the clothes, shoes and accessories when they are delivered, which happened to be only a few minutes before the shooting. I do not prepare anything, apart of a camera, 2 flashes and 10 rolls of b&w film. I would be tired, would put tremendous pressure on her to finish everything in no less than 3 hours. She would play a model no photographer would ever want to work with, shouting, crying, trowing stuff at me (got a Gucci handbag on my head), punching and kicking (got barely knocked out by a Marc Jacob wearing foot). No retouching allowed ! Goal was to create a nightmare fashion shoot, with no opportunity to correct anything during or after the shooting by using todays technology.
